Description

You're not going to find an original 1969 Thinline Tele in this condition anywhere short of six or eight thousand dollars. You're also not going to find an original 1969 Thinline Tele, with a fully carved Mahogany body, this side of twelve or fifteen grand! However, from the Just Guitars workshop, this incredible Thinline relic is yours for less than $2000 - and we've just had it signed by the fabulous Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks, following their recent Forum show in Melbourne!

Fully chambered Mahogany body

Starting out with a brand new, old stock '69 Reissue Thinline from 2003, with a carved and fully chambered Mahogany body, the guitar has undergone extensive hand-relicing in the Just Guitars workshop, which has produced an instrument so close in looks to a well-worn original '69 model that most people are unable to tell the difference. Yes, this is a brand new guitar.

Vintage 'F' Logo neckplate

Top-flight features include genuine aged nitro finish on the headstock, same as the original model; a genuine vintage 'F' logo neckplate with an authentic vintage serial number; aged 3-ply pearl scratchplate; aged knobs and screws; light fingerboard wear in all the right places; plus genuine Fender 'F' logo tuners that also have just the right amount of "rust" and "wear".

Nicely aged body

The Mahogany body features the careful addition of a few small dings here and there, light spots of arm wear, a couple of paint scuffs, plus the odd miscellaneous knocks, marks and stains that a forty-seven old instrument should be showing. And every bit of it was carefully created over a month long period in the Just Guitars workshop - this guitar looks like it was maybe gigged for a year or two into the early seventies, and then kept under the bed ever since!

Mahogany warmth

If you've never played a Mahogany body Telecaster, you haven't truly experienced everything a Tele has to offer – it doesn't just look great, it sounds absolutely fantastic, with the sometimes brittle Tele edge moderated substantially by the warmth of the Mahogany. And weighing in at just over 6lb, this is a guitar comfortable enough to play all night long.

Lightning-fast playability

The back of the neck has been lightly sanded and aged to recreate the feel of a well-played instrument, and fits the hand perfectly, with lightning-fast playability!

Voodoo pickups!

While Fender's own standard, modern pickups sounded OK enough, we were striving for total authenticity, so we went to one of America's finest and most famous "pickup builders to the stars", and kitted the guitar out with a truly killer set of Peter Florance vintage 'Voodoo' Tele pickups, that nail that late sixties/early seventies sound perfectly.

"A chorus of angels"

Some of the biggest names in the business rely on Peter Florance's famous 'Voodoo' pickups, so we talked to Peter at his workshop in Pennsylvania, discussing the project at length. A week or so later he shipped us a matched set of custom wound pickups, specifically made for this guitar - a tweaked Voodoo TE60 in the bridge, and a Voodoo Longneck in the neck position, also tweaked for that true vintage sound. The longer magnets in the Longneck give very usable, almost Strat-like tones in your neck position, while the staggered-pole pieces, copper bottom plate and hand-wound sixties coil pattern of the TE60 give a more articulate sound, extremely true to the vintage tones of the highly sought-after sixties originals. (One Peter Florance customer stated that the TE60 was "like a chorus of angels lived in Bakersfield before they shed their mortal coils. Twangy sweetness with mounds of harmonics." When we plugged it in we could scarcely believe the absolutely spot-on vintage Tele tone - this guitar sounds exactly like a thousand classic hit records from the seventies!

There's no two ways about it – this is one of the best playing, best looking, best sounding Thinline Telecasters you will ever come across! And this incredibly fine instrument, plus the relic work, and the awesome Peter Florance pickups is yours for just $1975! And it's signed by Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks!!

With matching vintage hard case

To complete the package, we recently acquired a genuine vintage black tolex hard case, which we will include at no extra cost! And as with all Just Guitars instruments includes FREE COURIER DELIVERY to any address in Australia
