This exclusive Fender model was made in very limited numbers for the (now defunct) chain of Daddy’s Junky Music stores in the US north-east. Custom ordered as a Fender Special Run, the limited edition MOTO* Strats were shared out across the 12 Daddy’s stores in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Vermont.
Perfection
We believe there were 60 built in MOTO Red and 60 in MOTO Blue. We’ve never seen a blue version, but the red was officially designated as Midnight Wine. (Somewhere between Candy Apple Red and Candy Cola) Along with the translucent red knobs, pickup covers and whammy tip, the red MOTO scratchplate sets off the body color to perfection. As far as we know this is the only one of these ever offered for sale in Australia.
A quality package
One-piece maple neck and board, 21 medium frets, Tusq nut, sealed Fender tuners – a quality package all the way. The neck plays really smooth and easy, surely one of the best necks to have come out of Fender’s Ensenada facility!
Condition
With rock-solid build quality throughout, the guitar is in Excellent- condition, with just some light playwear on the scratchplate and virtually nothing of note anywhere else. The frets are perfect, action is currently set a hair below medium and she plays like a dream. Intonation is spot-on. In other words, 100% ready to plug in and play.
Fender hard case
Your limited edition MOTO Strat comes in its original Fender deluxe gig bag, (see pic # 7), or we can provide the deluxe Fender hard case, (main image and pic #8), at an additional $200, (our cost price). FREE COURIER DELIVERY is included to any address in Australia.
*MOTO was an invention of Fender’s marketing department, changing the original guitar industry slang term MOTS, (Mother of Toilet Seat), used to describe the Laminex-like perloid finishes that became popular in the 1930s, to MOTO, thereby removing any toilet reference
