We have suspected for some time now that Fender may separate out their best bodies and necks for preferential paint shop treatment. This is one of those really great sounding Strats – one of the maybe one-in-a-hundred of the American-built models – that has absolutely everything going for it: a solid Alder body that rings; a fantastic playing neck; and that perfect Stratocaster tone, here with pickups that seem to have a slight vintage Telecaster bite, (listen to the soundfile). And it’s all wrapped up in one of Fender’s most desirable and rare colors, Shoreline Gold.
Is it Gold? Is it Silver?
Is it Gold? Is it Silver? No, it’s right there on the edge – the shoreline, if you will – where one becomes the other and you really can’t tell. In one light you’d swear the guitar was Silver, but angle it away just a fraction and it’s Gold. Or walk back into the room, as the light outside changes with the sun coming out from behind a cloud, and it’s not the same guitar it was two minutes earlier. Shoreline Gold would have driven an alchemist insane!
Condition
Anyway… this great American built, 2006 Strat will knock your socks off, in both the looks and sound departments. It is in Excellent++ condition, with just some very light playwear on the scratchplate to show it’s ever been used – the paintwork, the Maple neck and board, the frets, all are virtually mint.
Features
Hand-rolled fingerboard edges; 22 medium-jumbo frets; staggered tuners, staggered pickup pole pieces; parchment-tint, aged-look pickup covers and tone knobs; precision 2-point American Vintage synchronized tremolo system; and Fender 60th Anniversary diamond headstock badge.
