Let's face it, not everyone looking for a twelve-string electric is after the Rickenbacker jingle-jangle. Fender, Danelectro, Vox, Mosrite and others all built fine 12-strings back in the day... but the leader of the pack - as far as ballsy, non-Ric sound - was always Gibson, with their killer ES-335-12.

As well as Robby Krieger, David Byrne, Johnny Marr and Springsteen, other notable 335-12 players include the legendary Richie Furay of Buffalo Springfield and Poco fame, John Phillips of the Mamas & Papas, plus Bernard Butler who now owns the guitar that previously belonged to Johnny Marr. Incredibly rare
Strung the same as a Rickenbacker, you can get a decent serve of that famous jangle, but Gibson shipped the 335-12s with a conventional 12-string layout, which turned out to be a smart move, making this the electric twelve you need when you're you want something more than a Ric. And never produced in huge numbers, today they are incredibly rare and elusive, with demand far outstripping market availability.
Fabulous condition
In fabulous condition 51 year old condition, the guitar received a pro overhaul back in 2014, from one of the world's top luthiers. No major work was required, but a couple of dry solder joints were attended to and a new jack socket was installed. A set of Grover tuners had been installed for the original American owner, and these were removed and the original Kluson Deluxe set were refitted. American guitar owners will often inscribe their Social Security number on their instruments, and this had been done here - on the tailpiece - so a new tailpiece was fitted. $500 worth of parts & labor and the guitar is probably good for another fifty years before it needs looking at again.
