...Joe Walsh, Rosie Flores, Daniel Lanois, Taj Mahal, the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir, Steve Earle, Ziggy Marley, Warren Ellis, (Nick Cave, Dirty Three), Shannon McNally, Robert Cray, Melissa Etheridge, Charlie Sexton, Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Johnette Napolitano, Marc Ribot, Sonny Landreth, Sheryl Crow, Cat Power, Colin Hay, Billy Corgan, UK soul singer Lianne La Havas, the legendary Barbara Lynn, Andrew Stockdale from Wolfmother, CC Adcock, Mick Jones, (The Clash, B.A.D., Gorillaz), Johnny Thunders, Tony Garnier, (Bob Dylan’s touring band). That’s a pretty impressive – not to mention incredibly wide-ranging bunch of artists, all players of James Trussart guitars. Every one of which is fully hand built in Los Angeles. Every one guaranteed to turn heads, worldwide.

These stunning creations

The internet was in its infancy when the first James Trussart guitars started appearing on stages around the world, usually in the hands of a major name artist. With no easy way of finding out what these stunning creations were, the guitar mags at the local newsagent took a pounding, as amateur axe-sleuths looked in vain for clues.

Transplanted to America

“I read something the other day - I think those guitars might be made by some French guy.” No way, man – the French don’t make guitars! Not cool ones, anyway. But, yes, indeed, those extremely cool guitars – which were now starting to be seen in the hands of more and more big name acts – were, indeed, made by a Frenchman, albeit one newly transplanted to America.

Almost instant success

James Trussart first moved to the United States as a musician, playing fiddle in Cajun legend, Zachary Richard’s band. He had been making guitars in Paris, before relocating, and before long he had set himself up again in LA, where his unique steel body creations met with almost instant success.

Genuine Louisiana swamp alligator skin!

The Steelcaster Rust O Matic is James Trussart’s take on the single-coil/humbucker equipped Tele Custom, which stands apart from 99% of everything else out there. From its perforated “holey” back to the rusty alligator pattern, contact pressed into the steel top from a genuine Louisiana swamp alligator skin!

Modeled on a '62 Telecaster

The Rust O Matic’s dark brown-shaded Maple neck is modeled on a ’62 Telecaster and features a light grey-shaded Maple board, both superficially relic’d to resemble a guitar that’s been doing the rounds since the early sixties. The neck is supremely playable, with a fantastic feel in your hand and illegally low action.

Coil-split

Trussart’s exclusive hand-wound ‘Arcane’ Telecaster pickups provide a genuine vintage Tele punch, with the neck position humbucker featuring push-pull coil-split through the tone knob. This is a guitar that covers a lot of musical ground – check out our soundfile, then go steal the money your grandmother’s got stashed under her mattress!

Mint condition

In total Mint condition, (this is a brand new guitar, despite the impression given by the relic work), your 2015 model Rust O Matic Steelcaster ships in its original hard shell “gator” pattern case, and comes with its signed Trussart certificate of authenticity/spec sheet, (see pic # 7).

Free courier delivery

Priced under $6k, this is around $1500 less than what you should realistically expect to pay elsewhere – and that even includes our FREE COURIER DELIVERY to any address within Australia. ($100 airfreight to New Zealand, $175 to the US, Canada, UK and mainstream European countries. International freight added at checkout)
