Possibly based on Gibson’s famous SJ/Country Western models, Maton’s CW80 series has remained one of their most popular models across more than four decades. Available in both 6- and 12-string configurations, the Queensland Maple back & sides and Sitka Spruce top is the proven acoustic tone combination that Australian players come back for, time after time.
That extra layer of shimmer
The CW80 is a standard concert-size acoustic, (similar to a Martin size 0), designed to deliver well-balanced mids and highs, with plenty of warmth. The 12-string has that extra layer of shimmer that you’ll hear in our soundfile.
A breeze to play!
Along with a hand-rubbed ‘Antique Mahogany’ finish, other features include a Rosewood headstock overlay, low-profile medium-jumbo frets, two-way truss rod and heavy-duty teardrop scratchplate. The hand-finished neck feels perfect in your hand, the action is medium-low and combined with the low-profile frets makes for a 12-string that’s a breeze to play!
Barely a hint of playwear
Complete with new strings and its original hard shell case, this genuine piece of Australian guitar history is in Excellent++ condition, with perfect frets and barely a hint of playwear to be found anywhere. (Almost museum quality, it’s so shiny clean that it looks as though the previous owner always donned a dressing gown before picking it up!) Short of breaking into Maton’s vault, you will not find another 40 year old CW80/12 in this condition anywhere.
