With the possible exception of maybe having been done as a custom order some time in the past, the only official use of Desert Gold by Rickenbacker was during 2001, when it became their ‘Color of the Year’. Desert Gold is essentially the same as Fender’s renowned Shoreline Gold, and, depending on the light, can look quite silver or quite gold – and sometimes both at once. The Color of the Year series ran from 2000 – 2006.
Rickenbacker jangle
The 360’s solid Maple body is famously carved from a single piece of timber, a construction factor that helps deliver that famous Rickenbacker jangle. And, as exemplified by the likes of Paul Weller, Tom Petty, Pete Townshend, Susanna Hoffs, Daniel Johns, Thom Yorke, Peter Buck, Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney and many, many more, this is one of those guitars that really cuts across everything else in the mix when you give it a bit of a nudge.

Condition
The guitar has been played, but not much. It’s in overall Excellent+ condition, with little more than a couple of barely-there capo marks on the back of the neck and a touched-up paint ripple on the back of the headstock, likely from a guitar hanger. (See pic # 5)
