Steve Vai JEM77FP copy – trade show display model
Intended as a limited edition tribute model of one the world’s most famous guitars – Steve Vai’s legendary JEM77, which he originally hand-decorated with the same material used for the curtains in his studio, (or his house, or his parent’s house, depending on which story you care to believe) – this guitar was produced as a sample/display model for a Japanese guitar show, with the floral pattern printed directly onto the body and headstock, and although over a thousand people registered interest in this budget model, it never went through to production.
Brand new apart from having been handled at the trade show, there is exactly one of these available, exclusive to Just Guitars.
Features of this 20th anniversary recreation of Vai’s customised JEM77 include hard-rock Maple neck, the “monkey-grip”, (of course), all Black hardware, licensed Floyd Rose tremolo system with locking nut, 24 medium-jumbo frets and 5-way pickup se1ector switch. Clear scratchplate, (of course), otherwise all fluro pink plastic, including the pickup covers. The hum-single-hum pickups, (of course), are based on the original JEM/Dimarzio Evolution configuration, and they really pump! (The pickups, clear scratchplate and the monkey-grip are all shown in pic # 4)
The hand inlay work on the fretboard vine design is quite extraordinary, (see pic # 5), as is the lovely dark Rosewood board itself. The inlay work was hand-set from the back of the fretboard, before it was attached to the neck – labor intensive work, but well worth it – this is one of the most beautiful fretboards you will ever see!
We have just done a complete setup, (including the Floyd Rose), to factory specs, and this thing plays like a dream. The pickups bark and howl, but will go to sweet and smooth at your command. Hang it on the wall, or play it til your neighbor’s ears bleed – we have just one of these available, and first in gets it!
Please note that this tribute model is neither manufactured nor endorsed by Ibanez.
Ships in an original Japanese leatherette gig bag, or you can upgrade to a deluxe hard shell case for an extra $100
