Stunning – simply stunning!

We’ve just traded this near mint Larrivée lefty, but we doubt it’s going to be here very long. Dreadnought-size, with all solid Mahogany and Sitka Spruce construction, this is one of the nicest looking, best sounding acoustics we’ve ever had hanging on the wall.

The D-02 was a limited production run in 2000, (with only a handful of left-handed models built), and a variation on the classic Larrivée D-03 model, but with Mahogany back and sides, Black binding and a slightly deeper body for extended bottom end, making the D-02 ideal for both bluegrass and solo work. Speaking on the model’s design, Jean Larrivée says he envisioned it chiefly as a bluegrass instrument, one which could easily either fill in for, or double up on the standup bass parts, however this guitar fills that void in virtually any solo setting where you want a killer bottom end – bluegrass, blues, hard-hitting folk... the beautiful rich sound of the D-02 is the instrument you need – at half the price of similar quality Martin or Taylor models – and easily twice the value! This is the guitar to buy if you’ve ever considered something like a Gibson J-45, but found it out of your price range.

All solid timber construction – slow-cured Canadian Sitka Spruce top, Mahogany back & sides – hand built in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, this thing is a cannon! The 16” body, (with a 4¾” depth), is very loud and expressive, and wait until you try it in drop-D – it’ll blow your socks off.

Slim, one-piece Mahogany neck, (with Larrivée’s famous hand-fitted dovetail neck-joint); 25½” scale Ebony fingerboard with microdot position markers and nickel-silver frets; Ebony Headstock overlay, (with beautifully inlaid Larrivée logo); Ebony bridge; antiqued Graphtec Tusq nut & compensated saddle; and high ratio Larrivée logo Ping tuners. The Sitka Spruce top is natural satin-finished, with a clear scratchplate, (see pic # 4). The guitar is fully bound – front, neck and back – all in stylish Black.

It's just had a full set-up, complete with new Martin lights, and the action is perfect - nice and low, with no buzzing. Boasting a 17 - 21” compound fretboard radius, the D-02 is an absolute delight to play, and with a new D-03 currently selling for as much as $2499 in Australia, this Near Mint* limited edition D-02 is awesome value at just $1460 – and it’s a LEFTY!

* Two tiny dinglets on the top, plus one on the back of the neck, (between the 5th and 6th frets), otherwise perfect condition. And the Mahogany back is such a spectacular piece of timber, it will almost take your breath away!
