You can immediately see the Mosrite and Standel connections in Hallmark’s famous Swept-Wing design – Joe Hall designed guitars for both companies back in the day, before setting up his Hallmark production facility in Bakersfield, California in 1966. Hall’s original partner Bill Gruggett, in association with Bob Shade, resurrected the Hallmark line in 2004, and now based in Greenbelt, Maryland, the pair are once more making these fine instruments available to the discerning player.

Bought as an investment, this stunning instrument was played for maybe five minutes, and has been under the bed ever since – it’s in absolute Mint condition! The awesome Gold sparkle paintwork gleams and flashes like new, the metal parts all shine like new, and there’s nary a mark or ding to suggest this historic re-issue is anything but new.

In its original plush-lined Hallmark hard shell case, the VS-6V model features a thin, (early sixties profile), Maple neck, bound Rosewood board, plus a pair of Hi-Fi ’67 wide-range, high-output pickups, (9.22 and 9.12), which really blast! The neck is 25½” scale, with 23 medium frets, and the action is low and blindingly fast, (thanks to a zero fret), and with complete upper fret access, courtesy of the scooped double cutaways. Another cool feature of this incredibly versatile guitar is individual locking bridge sections, for perfect, rock solid intonation. The proprietary tremolo system is incredibly responsive, and a real pleasure to use.

Genuinely part Mosrite in its design, the Hallmark Swept-Wing is yours for less than half what it’s better-known step-brother would set you back – but it’s way ahead in the looks department!
