Univox HR-2 hollowbody electric, 1965

Univox HR-2 hollowbody electric, 1965

These amazing guitars from the sixties are getting very thin on the ground, as they’re snapped up by people in the know. This Series 1 model is in incredible all original condition – it’s even got its original whammy bar. Stunning dark cherryburst finish, thick white binding front and back, (the front with black pin-striping), original pickguard, dual adjustable Tune-O-Matic style bridge, sealed tuners, nice neck inlays, original knobs. From two metres away it looks like a new guitar! It’s obviously never been played that much, as everything is so spiffy – the binding doesn’t have a mark, a chip or a ding anywhere, front or back, (and is aged to a smooth, rich cream color). Speaking of the back, there’s barely a mark there, either. (Same with the neck – immaculate!) The strings were as old as the hills, so we’ve put a new set of Gibson 10s on her and, wow, what a prize! We are going to be very sad when this magnificent guitar leaves us.

The case, (the original), is pretty average, but how’s this for a bonus? Inside the case there’s the original strap, lead, pick and two old chord and learn-to-play books

The 25½ inch hardrock maple neck and fretboard is everything that a Telecaster player wants, and then some, (plus you’ve also got that way cool headstock thing happening). Burns’ own top-quality sealed tuners, (plus four string-trees), fully bound body – front and back – and the neck is also bound, There’s also the depressed sound-hole type thing that Barry Gibson developed to give his guitars a unique sound that just can’t be beat. If you want to create an impression, this one’s for you
