Fully hand built in Seattle, Washington, by boutique guitar builder Sean Folan*, the SonicF is a killer axe – the sound of a vintage Les Paul Special, with all the playability of a Strat! Built for the Chicago-based Montgomery Ward department stores & catalogue company by the giant National/Supro/Valco corporation, (also based in Chicago), Airline had a guitar for everyone, from acoustics and big bodied jazz boxes to basses and a score of different solidbody electrics. Gibson made just 139 super high-quality Nouveau instruments, across a few months of 1986/87, before realising they were losing money on every one, (particularly the 12-strings), at which point the specifications were substantially stripped down and the guitars were re-branded as an Epiphone budget line.
