The Telecaster Custom* first appeared in Fender’s electric guitar range back in 1959, introduced at that year’s big NAMM trade show in New York. Double bound in classic white, the Custom’s body gave it a stylish, up-market edge over the regular Tele model, remaining in the Fender catalogues until 1972.
Historically accurate
Perfectly replicating the 1962 original, the American Vintage model features the same historically accurate Alder body, the same Rosewood slab fingerboard, (with same 7¼” vintage radius), same 3-ply mint scratchplate, vintage Kluson Deluxe-style tuners and a killer set of matched ’62 Custom Tele pickups.

Glendale upgrades
But wait, there’s more! The electrics and the bridge have been upgraded with premium Glendale components. Glendale’s ‘Blackguard’ steel bridgeplates are cut from tone-maximized, .048” cold-rolled steel, for perfectly balanced tone, plus enhanced warmth and twang. The non-threaded Glendale saddles are the same “Twang Intone” Cutting Edge set that ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons swears by – a chrome-plated E/A, and solid brass D/G and B/E. Paper & foil tone cap, 4-way selector switch and Speedking pots round out the huge Glendale upgrades. (Note that all original Fender parts were retained and are included in the case, along with the original, never installed ‘ashtray’ bridge cover – see pic # 6)
