This one owner guitar was played very sparingly at home, for less than twelve months, and has been in storage, untouched, ever since. So what you’re getting here is basically a one year old, 1998 Sherwood Green American Vintage Strat!
Sherwood Green nitro
1998 was the first year that Fender made the highly desirable Sherwood Green nitro finish available on the American Vintage reissue series, and it was then only used in limited numbers, up until 2001, when it was retired again. The chance to pick up a barely played ’62 example is a rare opportunity indeed. The fact that the guitar is near vintage itself adds significantly to the appeal.
Features
Alder body; lovely dark Rosewood fingerboard; 57/62 pickups, with bevelled pole pieces; aged white knobs and pickup covers; mint green scratchplate, which sits beautifully against the metallic hint of the Sherwood Green finish.
Nice bonus
Showing only some light playwear on the scratchplate, and a scattering of tiny marks here and there on the body, the guitar is in fabulous condition – the protective plastic is still on the backplate! (See pic # 5) There is some tarnishing of the bridge saddles, (also seen in pic # 5), which could be polished out, but really, why spoil the vintage appeal? Another nice bonus is a particularly cool serial number: 112288.
