As noted on the spec sheet, ("Shop Floor Traveler" - see pic # 6), exactly ONE of these Telecasters was ordered and built, to the exact specifications of Wild West Guitars in the US. That's One. Of One. If you're having trouble getting your head around that, this is the only one of these Teles built to these exact historic specs. The are others in Fender's Time Capsule series, with similar specs, but this exact? Just this one.
Key details
And those specs are right there for you to read, so rather than repeat everything, we'll just pull a few key details out, to make the point that the Custom Shop really did put everything into this thing:-
First up, the guitar is finished in un-buffed flash-coated "NOS" (New Old Stock) see-thru Blonde lacquer. This gives the impression of a guitar built back in the day, before everything became so slick that you could eat off it. Catch the light just right and you can even see very faint signs of fine sanding in the finish, along with the famous "orange peel" dimpling.
A solid rift-sawn Maple neck, featuring a soft-V profile. (Rift-sawn is the most expensive milling cut going, so, again, no corners cut)
An exact reproduction of Fender's historic silver headstock logo.
The bridge screws and other screw-hole placement adhere strictly to what was used between 1951 and 1954.
Finally, a dynamite set of hand-wound Blackguard 50/51 pickups. These can NOT be bought separately. You want the early fifties Telecaster sound, you buy this guitar.
Certificate of Authenticity
Along with the Custom Shop's Certificate of Authenticity and other paperwork, the original Custom Shop tweed case also contains the original repro "ashtray" bridge cover, plus an extra 'Fat 50s' wiring & switch assembly, which you'll see had been requested on the spec sheet.
