Since 1958, Gibson's iconic ES-335 has been one of the rock-solid mainstays of popular music. There's scarcely a style of music that a 335 can't handle, from country to jazz, swamp-rock to punk, (both kinds), chart-topping stadium rock to acoustic numbers down at your local bar on a Sunday afternoon.
Music City, USA
There's been very few changes to the design and spec's over the years, while some years just seem to have produced standout runs of the model – hence the Classic '57 humbuckers that power this fantastic 2005 number from Gibson Nashville. (And, really, where else would you want a legendary guitar to be built, than Music City, USA!)
Limited run
Gibson did these gorgeous looking Honeyburst ES-335s as a limited run back in 2005 and at the time of posting ours, we couldn't find another listed for sale anywhere in the world. Gibson's limited production runs can be anywhere from 25 or 30, up to three or four hundred. Whatever the quantity here, spread across the world, it becomes a very thin number.
Near perfect
With its nicely flamed Maple body and Mahogany neck, the guitar is in Excellent- condition, having been used regularly around Melbourne blues venues since new. Frets are near perfect, (see pic # 5), there's very little play wear on the body or back of the neck, action and intonation are perfect and, complete with its original Gibson hard shell case, this ES-335 can take up residency in your guitar rack and be your number one go-to axe for the next thirty or forty years.
Stand out
Did we mention the fabulous Honeyburst finish? This is a 335 that's always going to stand out from all the Cherry, Black and regular Sunburst models. The flame shifts nicely with the light, imparting a certain "otherness" that you will fall rapidly in love with. And it isn't, but that lovely fingerboard looks ridiculously like Brazilian Rosewood!
