(If you’re playing the home game, 10.1mm vs 10.6) Add in Gibson’s scalloped X-bracing and one of today’s top acoustic pickup systems, and you’ve got a guitar that’s great to play, projects like crazy, and plugs in for devastating versatility.
Absolute player's delight
Hand selected solid Indian Rosewood back & sides, and solid Sitka Spruce top provide the big J-45 tone, with the solid Mahogany neck and 16” radius Rosewood fingerboard bringing the playing stability and moderated warmth that you want in a jumbo masquerading as a dread. By the way, the neck is carved to a fifties-style medium-C profile, which is an absolute player’s delight!
Gloss nitro
Also a total delight, compare our main image, (right), with pic # 3, and see how the lovely Sitka top refracts light from different angles. The Rosewood Burst finish – and note that this is the earlier gloss nitro, before the Studio finishes were “revised” to satin – the Rosewood Burst has that classic lustre that will age beautifully over its lifetime.

More comfortable
We mentioned earlier that this is a jumbo masquerading as a dreadnought. The combination of that 5mm shallower body depth, and the waist being the classic dread carve rather than the narrower, pinched waist of most jumbos, really does allow the Studio to feel like a more comfortable dread.
