The Peavey Custom Shop built roughly 285 EVH guitars over three years. That’s it, that’s all there are. Of those 285 instruments, approximately a third were sold through retail stores, with the remainder either ending up in the Wolfgang Vault or selected to be displayed at the annual US music industry trade show, NAMM. (North American Music Manufacturers) Nobody seems to know exactly how many NAMM models exist, but the number is most likely somewhere between 30 and 40.
A Van Halen fan in Australia
When the NAMM shows wrap up, the manufacturer generally sell their exclusive show models off to their elite dealers. Sometimes the dealers hang on to the guitars themselves, sometimes they offer them for sale. This Custom Shop Wolfgang Special made it out to a dealer, then to a Van Halen fan in Australia. Straight out of that fan’s private collection, the guitar is in MINT- condition.
