Here's another great vintage instrument from the heyday of Chicago's mighty National/Supro/Valco organization. Supro's first 22" scale 'Super' model appeared in 1958, lasting until 1963, however this incredibly rare Silverburst option, (the Supro catalogue called it "Black and Ivory sunburst"), was only available for a period of less than twelve months, during 1959 and '60. (Apart from the knobs, the Super is identical to National's own original 'Westwood' model)

With pots from late September of 1959, the serial number dates the instrument to mid-1960, and for a guitar over five-and-a-half decades old, this one is in truly excellent condition, with just a scattered handful of small paint scuffs here and there, (and a couple of touch-ups), plus the small patch of buckle-rash on the back, (shown in pic # 4). There's also a slight bend in the G-string tuner-arm, (pic # 5), and some light fingerboard wear, mostly at the first two positions, (pic # 6). None of this matters! The hardware is all brass-plated, including the cool Dobro-style tailpiece, and other than the strings, every bit of this sensational guitar is 100% original. Original pots, original wiring, original "Super-power Alnico" pickup – which absolutely screams – original compensated bridge, even the original brass-plated strap-pins and original screws! It's all here, and it's all ready to slot right into your guitar arsenal. Oh, and it comes in its original soft shell case, (with a loose handle).

Currently set up with incredible low action, and acres of room for adjustment either way at the bridge, this is a fantastic, easy playing ¾-scale axe, which genuinely covers a lot of musical ground – blues, rock, White Stripes, Zeppelin, both sides of Neil Young, the Beatles…
