Finished in lovely dark Blue Pearl, this is a fabulous example of Music Man’s Albert Lee signature model. From tip to toe, this is complete guitar building excellence. With its southern Swamp Ash body tipping our guitar scales at just 6lb 3½oz, it actually comes in under Music Man’s original spec sheet weight. It’s so light you could probably play two entire gigs back to back and barely register you’d taken it out of the case!
Smooth, fast and professional
The Birdseye Maple neck is nicely mottled on the front, with the rear a mix of the birdseye patterning and some light flame. The fingerboard is sliced from the same piece of premium grade Maple, with the truss rod inserted, then the two pieces masterfully re-joined – you need to look very closely to see this canny piece of luthiery! The back of the modern-C profile neck is then hand-rubbed with gunstock oil, for a smooth, fast and professional feel.

And the sound…? Well, Albert Lee absolutely fell in love with the prototype model, which had been a custom job built for Sterling Ball. Lee saw it and immediately lusted after it, with Ball reluctantly saying. “Oh, OK, you can have it.” It famously became Albert Lee’s number one guitar for the next decade, its custom wound Seymour Duncan singlecoils and Music Man’s ‘Silent circuit’ delivering that fantastic tone and snap that Lee is renowned for.
