One of the great P/J-style basses, the Caprice is now out of production, and as with most used and vintage prices these days, prices are rising rapidly.
Brand new
Premium everything, from tip to toe, our Caprice Bass, (caprice means “an exciting piece of music”), finished in Heritage Tobacco Burst, is in such fabulous condition that it still has the protective plastic on the scratchplate, along with its factory code sticker on the back. Peel them both off and you’re pretty much looking at a brand new Caprice!
Super comfy
Solid Alder body; vintage-tint, select Maple neck; select Rosewood fingerboard at full 34” scale; Schaller tuners; P and J-style humbucking pickups, both with Alnico V magnets; Music Man’s lustrous high-gloss finish. The slightly oversize headstock keeps the bass nicely balanced, while the subtle belly-cut makes for super comfy playing.
Delight in playing
Famous for their smooth-playing necks, the Caprice tapers from a slightly rounded take on the modern-C profile by the nut, to a just as ever-so-slightly flatter feel from around the twelfth fret. This is a bass you will delight in playing, every time you pick it up.
A lot of bass
Separate volumes and a master tone control; high-narrow frets; 1½” nut width; top-loading, hardened-steel bridge, with nickel plated saddles; scratchplate & control cavity both fully shielded… as we noted earlier, premium everything! This really is a lot of bass, extremely reasonably priced.
