Way back in 1951, session player and recording artist Jimmy Bryant was one of the first ever Telecaster players, (when it was still called the Broadcaster). Largely known as a blistering country player, such was Bryant’s incredible versatility that a decade and a half later he was the session fiddle player on ‘Sweet Young Thing’ by the Monkees. Three years after being given his first Butterscotch Blonde Tele, a new Fender electric guitar was in the works, planned as an exclusive Jimmy Bryant model, however a temporary falling out with Leo Fender saw the plan dropped, and the guitar was given a new name – the Stratocaster! (Imagine, we very nearly had the Gibson Les Paul and the Fender Jimmy Bryant!!)
Keef
Anyway, from Jimmy Bryant through the next seven decades and counting, with players such as Steve Cropper, Bruce Springsteen, Jeff Buckley and countless others – oh, and not forgetting Keef’s famous ‘Micawber’ – a Butterscotch Blonde Telecaster has steadfastly remained one of the most desirable electric guitars in the world.
Vintage-style
With the exceptional build quality that Fender Japan is renowned for, the Traditional ’50s Telecaster delivers on every front, from its vintage fifties-style Tele pickups, (run through American made CTS pots), to its genuine bone nut, vintage-style 3-way switching and vintage-style string-thru bridge, (with vintage-style brass saddles). You’ve also got yer traditional Tele headstock, with vintage Kluson-style tuners, and the classic one-piece Maple neck/9½” radius fingerboard and vintage style frets. Note: Fender specs have the neck as "U" shape, but this comes very close to Rickenbacker thin – more a flattened-D – that fits your hand like it was custom carved.
Lefty
Finding one of these in a lefty is a bit needle/haystack-ish, so if it’s got all your boxes ticked, jump right on this Butterscotch beauty while it lasts.
Condition
Complete with its original Fender gig bag, the guitar is in Excellent+ condition, with negligible playwear to the body, perfect frets, and just some light scuffing of the scratchplate.
