Gibson 1950s LG-2, MINT!

Price: AUD $4,570.00

Description

Many players will readily tell you that the LG-2 is the standout in the smaller body LG range, but, as with many things in life, it’s horses for courses, and the more bluesy sound of the LG-1 perfectly suits its own sector of the market, while the LG-2s X-bracing pattern delivers a markedly different sound to that of its sibling’s ladder bracing. Horses / courses.

Spec list

The full spec list of the LG-2 reads like a history lesson in fine American guitar making:-

Solid Sitka Spruce top
Solid Mahogany back & sides
Traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing
Mahogany neck, (compound dovetail neck/body joint)
East Indian Rosewood fingerboard, (24¾" scale; 12” radius; 1¾" / 45mm nut width; vintage-style frets)
Bone nut & saddle
Tusq bridge pins
Vintage-style nitro finish
Mother-of-pearl dot fingerboard and bridge inlays
Grover vintage Kluson-style strip tuners
Front and rear binding, (3-ply white-black-white front, single-ply rear)

LR Baggs

Rounding things out, and ensuring the LG-2 fits seamlessly into the modern century, the guitar comes factory fitted with the highly acclaimed LR Baggs VTC under saddle pickup system – just plug in and play!

Blue Monday

Loud, clear, balanced notes, glossy chords, all as easily adaptable under your fingers to Django as Sting, Mr Sheerin as Ms Swift, bluegrass as ‘Blue Monday’.

Painstaking instrument making

Entering production at Gibson’s famous acoustic facility in Bozeman, Montana two days before Christmas, 2020, our LG-2 passed through quality control a month later, on January 22nd 2021. No “knock out a thousand a day” here, just a committed four weeks of careful and painstaking instrument making, honed over more than a century, ensuring every guitar is something to be played lots and cherished forever.

Condition

Complete with its original Gibson hard shell case and case candy, (pics 6, 7 and main), this stunning LG-2 is in exceptionally fine condition. If you were to take it into a science lab, filled with hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of science-y gear, you could perhaps, maybe, just possibly find some indication of it having been played. But, without a roomful of lab-coated geeky types on hand, we’re calling this MINT- condition.
