One owner from new, and played for approximately half an hour, this is basically a brand new 2007 ES-339, finished in the highly desirable Light Caramel Burst. It’s so unplayed that, fifteen years later, the protective paper film is still on the pickguard.
Memphis Custom Shop
With virtually identical construction to the ES-335, the 339 is one of Gibson’s most appealing models. With a slightly smaller body – similar to Les Paul size – it’s a 335, just noticeably more comfortable! And, built in Gibson’s famous Memphis Custom Shop, (see pic # 4), every aspect and detail is 100% Custom Shop perfect.
Mint condition
“Under the bed” finds are the holy grail of used and vintage guitars. As we noted at the front, this is a first year* 339, the guitar that was secretly developed by the Custom Shop, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the venerable ES-335. Released to universal acclaim by both players and reviewers, comments such as “One of the best new Gibsons we've ever played!” were not uncommon.
A world of difference
With a solid Maple centre block, Mahogany neck and Maple/Poplar/Maple body, the familiarity of the ES-335 is there, but the ease of playing is a world of difference! And as you add in every other feature, it only gets better:-

One great difference from the 335 is that the ES-339 has the jack side mounted – this makes much more sense! And we mentioned earlier that the body is more Les Paul sized – this brings with it another great benefit, in that everything being a little “tighter”, it lends the guitar a slight Les Paul tone as well – slightly tighter and more focused – something missing from the bigger bodied ES-335.
