Designed by the legendary Ren Ferguson, the J-1000 was produced in very limited numbers, between 1992 and 1994. Fully hand crafted by the luthiers at Gibson’s acoustic facility in Bozeman, Montana, just this and 45 others were created in the first year – a hand-worked rate of less than one a week.
New level of wonderful
Now officially vintage, the timbers have opened up beautifully, with a perfectly controlled low end, and the entire mid-range a glorious backdrop to the singing highs. And that’s all before you plug it in! The onboard LR Baggs Element VTC pickup system takes this guitar to an entirely new level of wonderful.
AAA-grade
Fully bound body, of solid AAA-grade Spruce top and solid AAA-grade Indian Rosewood back & sides; Mahogany/Walnut/Mahogany neck; full 25½” scale bound Rosewood fingerboard, with diamond-shape pearl inlays; and a gorgeous Rosewood moustache bridge featuring pearl dot bridge pins.
Pearl, diamond, gold
Elsewhere: bound headstock, pearl Gibson headstock logo & diamond inlays, gold Gibson Deluxe tuners, and gold marquetry back stripe.
Our very highest endorsement
As we mentioned at the front, the J-1000 is a very responsive instrument – Gibson’s famous string-to-string note clarity is a given, but with the combination of premium Rosewood body and super tight-grained Spruce top, this thing absolutely sings! And of course, once you plug in, everything becomes substantially more amazing. This incredibly rare guitar comes with our very highest endorsement.
