You'll occasionally hear someone say that a particular acoustic guitar is a "real cannon"… this one is a real cannon! It bangs out that famous Martin sound like you just won't believe. BOOM!! And it's a LEFTY!
Now out of production, the DM racked up scads of solid 4½ and 5 star reviews, right from its introduction, as one of the best value dreadnought size guitars a player could wish for. And other than just some incredibly light playwear, this great-sounding example is in fantastic condition.
Construction
Designed with the player in mind, Martin kept the DM's adornments simple; Black binding and classic 'Style 28' dot inlays. That's it. Standard features are the 14-20 fret, 25.4" scale neck, Rosewood headstock face, with gold-foil Martin logo, and A-frame X-bracing. The guitar has a nice flat 16" radius at the saddle, coming back to around 12" at the 12th fret – so picking is a breeze – and a neck profile just ever-so-slightly meatier than the modern C-profile. (Martin call the neck profile "modified low oval")
The natural satin-finished DM boasts a solid Sitka Spruce top, (and this is one of the most finely-grained pieces of Spruce we've ever seen - check out pic # 5), plus Mahogany back and sides, Mahogany neck and East Indian Rosewood fingerboard and bridge – still all almost as shiny and new as when it left the Martin plant in Nazareth, Pennsylvania back in 2001.
Perfect action
With perfect action, the guitar plays and sounds like a dream. Whether you're strumming, finger-picking, or in flat out Bluegrass mode, the DM will rapidly become your one go-to guitar… and it's a LEFTY!
How does it sound? Wonderful!
So how does it sound…? A bottom end to turn many guitars costing 3 and 4 times the price green with envy. Mids that are warm and lush. Highs that shimmer when strummed and are precise and detailed when picked. This is easily three or four thousand dollars worth of Martin acoustic sound – for just $1775! And did we mention it's a LEFTY?
Condition
Out of production since 2009, the DM becomes more desirable by the day, and to score one in such extraordinarily fine condition is a total bonus! It even ships in its original Martin green-plush-lined hard shell case, in just as fine condition as the guitar itself.
NOTE: Whether you'll be playing live, in the studio, or just strumming at home, we can install a top-of-the-range LR Baggs M1 Active sound-hole pickup in your DM for our cost, of only $230
