First year model from the '74 Reissue's limited production run, (2013 - 2015). Prices on these killer funk machines started going crazy almost as soon as Fender announced they were being replaced with a '64 reissue. They are now notoriously hard to find - and becoming more expensive by the day - don't miss this opportunity.
The build quality on this model was exceptional - hence the escalating prices. The classic combination of an Alder body, Maple neck and beautifully grained Rosewood board are further enhanced by the black paintwork, (so very black!), pearloid block markers and 3-ply scratchplate.
This Discontinued model from Fender's American Vintage Re-Issue series redelivers the best of the best, without the hefty vintage price tag! Boosting the seventies authenticity is the fuller U-profile neck, however with a nut width fractionally under 1½", (1-15/32"), you won't feel like you're playing across the width of an aircraft-carrier. The bound neck feels fabulous, and players rave about the vintage-style frets - smooooth!
Vintage style all the way
Elsewhere, it's vintage style all the way: bone nut; separate volume controls and a master tone; period correct thumb rest; and the pickups! Precision-wound, with all vintage correct features: Alnico 5 magnets, for real dynamic focus; enamel-coated magnet wire, for warm, vintage tone; vintage correct cloth wire and fibre bobbins; flush-mounted pole pieces, for true, even response; shellac-potted.
Just on five years old, this American Vintage groove machine is in Excellent++ condition, with so little use that it's really just on the edge of "broken in"... it still has the Fender trademark stickers attached - one on the back of the headstock, the other on the neckplate.
