Description

There's just no other way to say it – this guitar is in absolutely extraordinary condition! It's like someone broke into the Fender museum and made off with one of the prize exhibits.

Jazzmaster Protector

One owner from new, we're confident this is the nicest vintage Jazzmaster currently on the market in all of Australia. A major contributor to its incredible condition is that it comes complete with its original – and beyond rare – 'Jazzmaster Protector'. Admittedly one of Fender's genuine oddball moments, the sculpted plastic back protector, (kept in place by the strap buttons), has ensured the back of the guitar is the absolute cleanest 49 year old back you've ever seen! (The Jazzmaster Protector is shown in pic # 6, with a close-up in the centre of pic # 7)

Original hard shell case

Another couple of bonuses are that the guitar is 100% original, and comes complete with its original hard shell case, (with Fender logo fully intact). The case is in just as minty clean condition as the guitar itself. The pots are dated the 19th week of 1964 and 30th week of '65, and the standard 'B'-width neck is dated 4th of September, 1965.

Killer Sunburst finish

There's virtually no fading whatsoever to the killer Sunburst finish, the red tortoiseshell scratchplate shows just very light playwear, and other than a couple of tiny, barely there, dinglets on the top, (mostly in the vicinity of the jack), the rest of the instrument is just as clean as the back.

Brazilian!

The gorgeous Maple neck is in stunning condition, as is the Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. (Clearly after more of Gibson's business, the Jazzmaster was the first Fender model to be offered with a premium Rosewood board) the neck is slightly thinner than usual for the time – slightly thinner than the modern C-profile, almost Ricknbacker thin – and it's an absolute delight to play! The Fender headstock logo is fully intact, and the original Kluson Deluxe tuners are 100% perfect – not one bent shaft!

Jazzmaster exclusive

In time for Christmas, 1965, the Jazzmaster received a significant cosmetic upgrade, courtesy of a fully bound neck, which very much enhanced the guitar's already topflight appearance. Along with the bound neck, the tone & volume knobs also received a stylish upgrade, with the plain, Stratocaster-style knobs making way for the Jazzmaster exclusive knobs, shown in pic # 7. The neck binding and knobs were the only changes to the Jazzmaster in 1965, however several other design alterations during the following year were slightly less desirable, particularly the introduction of (Gibson-style) block markers on the fingerboard.

"Spy music sound"

We always take great delight in catching Elvis Costello whenever he tours Australia, and this incredible, all original model from 1965 cranks out that legendary surf and "spy music sound" which first attracted Elvis to the Jazzmaster in the mid-seventies, eventually leading to his own signature model Jazzmaster, in production from 2008 to 2010. Getcha spy on with 8lb 12oz, (3.95kg), of pure Fender magic!

100% original

As already stated, 100% original, complete with its original hard shell case, this truly amazing Jazzmaster would be valued at a minimum of $9000 anywhere in Australia, so at just $7100 you're way out ahead in the vintage value stakes.
