Alder body, nice weight
This was one of the best sounding Teles we ran across on our last US buying trip, and having it plugged in again over the past couple of days has brought back the sheer delight in finding it that particular day in Portland, Oregon. The guitar has all the standard 1988 specs, with the solid Alder body weighing in at 7lb 14oz / 3.6kg, providing a nice resonance, with around 15 seconds of natural sustain.
Refinished in Black Sparkle
The body has been refinished in a Black sparkle, and the bridge pickup has been changed to a red Fender/Lace Sensor, which works beautifully with the Alder body. The neck has a very slight bit more meat to it than the typical modern C-profile, and feels great in the hand, playing smooth and fast. Barely noticeable, there's some very light play wear on the back of the neck, down towards the body, while the frets and board look almost brand new! Something of a bonus is that the neck, (dated 5.05.88), is stamped as having been made by Scott Buehl, (shown in pic # 3, above), one of the Fender Custom Shop's best known, most respected builders.
