If you're gonna own a Les Paul, then get yourself a Les Paul Custom! The classic Gibson model first appeared in 1953, and with its top-flight appointments immediately became the Les Paul model of preference for many, many players. In recognizing its importance over the years, Gibson created this faithfully authentic Custom Shop reissue in the year following the Custom's 50th anniversary, with a five year production run, which ended in 2009.
A most desirable beast
As famously played by the likes of Joe Strummer, Eddie Van Halen, Lindsey Buckingham, Randy Rhoads, Buckethead, James Bradfield of Manic Street Preachers, Zakk Wylde, Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, Dave Grohl, etc, etc, etc, a white Les Paul Custom is a most desirable beast, and this 2005 Gibson Custom Shop model, finished in almost blinding Alpine White, with all gold-plated hardware, is as sexy and desirable as all-get-out!
Classic features
Recreating the famous 1957-60 model Les Paul Custom, the classic features are all here: multi-stripe binding, (front and back); bound neck and headstock; Ebony fingerboard with exquisite MOP block inlays; gold-plated Alnico humbuckers; gold-plated Grover tuners; gold-plated bridge and tailpiece. If you do a lot of lead work, the pickups in this Custom have your name on them – the neck reads 7.9 and the bridge a whopping 13.5! The combination Mahogany back and carved Maple top tips the scales at a very sensible 9lb 14oz, (4.5kg), so while it's heavier than your typical Strat, it won't break your back.
Condition
Other than some light buckle-rash on the back, (surface impressions only), and light player-side wear on the gold of the pickups and bridge, (see pic # 6), the guitar is in Excellent+ condition. Fret wear is negligible, no dings, no damage, no repairs or modifications. There's some nice ageing of the Alpine White finish beginning to develop top and bottom of the back, (pic # 3), already lending the fine appeal of an older instrument.
Custom Shop
While the Custom Shop logo is clearly visible on the back of the headstock, (pic # 5), please note that the Custom Shop certificate went missing some time ago, so the guitar is priced accordingly. It will ship in its original hard shell case, (seen in pics 4 and 6).
