At just a fraction of an equivalent Gibson or Gretsch model, this 40 year old thinline is very cool and enormous fun. It's just as playable as a Gibson and just as honking as a Gretsch – the best of both worlds, plus plenty of cash left in your bank account! The tailpiece design, headstock shape and badge all date the guitar to 1969/70, though the exact model doesn't appear in any Teisco catalogue. Except for the Strat-style headstock and different bridge, the guitar is identical to the Model 1456 model, built by Teisco for Sears/Silvertone. The same Silvertone model was also marketed in Canada as an Audition 29633 by Sears' north-of-the-border franchise, Simpson's-Sears. Barring the headstock and bridge, both models were very similar to the Teisco EP-10T, so we'll call it that.
Smaller body for easy playing
Featuring a smaller body than most other thinlines, the size here is about that of a Les Paul, or Gibson's ES-339 thinline. The Maple body features celluloid binding, front and back and a superb, dark Redburst finish, which shows some nice, fine cracking in the vintage Japanese lacquer.
Single-coil pickups
The two single-coil pickups, with individual switching, master volume and master tone controls, really bang it out. The guitar is very light, at just 4lb 11oz, (2.15kg), so you'll barely know it's there. With its shorter scale of 23-5/8" scale, (about an inch shorter than Les Paul scale), you'll understand how much effortless fun can be had with this guitar.
Condition
Minimal fret wear, (see pic # 8), the vintage-style, open-gear tuners work smoothly, with no bent shafts, the electrics are clean and the guitar shows only very light play wear, with a little light scuffing on the back. This very tasty Teisco EP-10 is one hundred percent ready to plug in play, straight out of the box.
